Line 6 amps, the digital to the.. well.. slightly digital

Line 6 are a relatively new amp and guitar make, whose prices range from 70 pounds to round about 800 (for a top of the range guitar). Both the amps and guitars are equiped with gadgets such as, on the amp there are many presets and effects built in, whereas the guitar, via some slightly fiddly gear(trust me, I used to own one) can imitate sounds of others, such as a les paul or stratocaster using a small dial which replaces the second tone dial.You can also program it to automatically select your favourite settings.

They have also bought out an amp, designed with the help of the Bogner amp wiring company, which uses valves, as the majority of guitarists prefer the tone of the old fashioned way of making amps. But, they have enabled it with all the other presets and effects of the entirely digital amps, producing something along the lines of a hybrid. These techno-valve amps are priced around £450.

They offer good sounds, but their presets are often critisced of being a little over cooked (too much effects used). Also, some of the effects will never be used by your average Jack.

All in all, Line 6 produce amps of good quality, but maybe could address some of their effects to bring in some more authodox players.

The amps have landed

yep, I have decided to review some amps now, and return to guitars as some cool guitars are about to come out. So that leads us on to the review of the mighty mesa-boogie!

A highly prestigous valve amp, mesa have produced great amps for many many years. From amps such as the boogie, with a punchy, warm and bluesy tone, to the rectifier, one of the most hardcore distortion amps around, there is hardly an amp that mesa have produced that isn't good, which is fairly incredible. Although expensive, they are very worth the investment. The only slight downside is their reliability, but to break it you have to be quite silly, like dropping it, or leaving it on all night, that blows the valves(like my dad. what a gypsy!)
